The Performing Arts Center of Tallahassee offers one of the most extensive programs in the state. Ballet Academy classes are taught following the Ruth C. Petrinovic syllabus. The syllabus was designed to carefully develop healthy and strong dancers using the principles of kinesiology, physics and biomechanics and is based on the heritage of the Vaganova, RAD and Cecchetti methods of classical training. Students are introduced to progressive levels of ballet technique as described in the School Syllabus. They are promoted according to individual progress in acquiring technique and strength. Company Etudes is the performing branch of the Academy Division. Academy dancers study weekly classes in ballet, pointe and contemporary dance and have the option of adding elective classes in jazz, tap and acrobatics.
