Vickie Sheer - Executive Director, Dance Educators of America
Established in 2000, under the direction of Amy S. Lowe, Performing Arts Center of Tallahassee continues to provide it's students with the finest in performing arts training. Our programs are designed to meet the skill level and goals of all children, teens and adults from the aspiring beginner through experienced professional. Classes are developmentally appropriate, challenging and fun. We utilize the latest techniques and styles to compliment a strong classical foundation. Classes are taught by experienced instructors active in the professional arts world as performers, choreographers, musicians and teachers. Whether the goal is to perform professionally or take lessons just for recreation, we have a program to meet your needs.
Our Dance and Music programs offer a wide variety of classes for all ages. Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Acro, Contemporary or Modern, as well as many other dance styles, Voice, Piano, Guitar, and many popular instruments are all part of our extensive curriculum. Music, Dance and Acting all in the same location means less time driving from place to place, its all here under one roof with flexible, convenient scheduling.
We also offer specialized, developmentally appropriate early childhood programs such as "Fairytale Pre-Ballet" which introduces the joy of movement in a magical class combining fundamental instruction with costumes, props, and acting centered around familiar themes of favorite classic fairy tales.
But learning is only part of the experience, our professional staff and teachers create a warm, secure environment for our students while responding to the needs and concerns of our parents. We offer many free customer appreciation events throughout the season to share, casual relaxed time with our families. Throughout the season, we also participate in a variety of community outreach events including Relay for Life, the National Dance Week celebration and various performances for retirement communities and service organizations.
Our year end productions consistently receive rave reviews as a positive experience for both the performers and audience. The youngest students have their own special performance that are designed to be a stress free, and a happy experience for the young performer and family. Our annual student showcase is presented in a professional theater to maximize the comfort and enjoyment for all involved. The creative choreography, professional lighting and sound system along with the consistent progress of the students, who are obviously having fun and enjoying the show as much as their families, keep audience members returning year after year.
